Medicaid Write Off and Civil Claim?

by admin on August 22, 2010

I had my son June 5th, and was released June 10th from the hospital. On that same day of my release, I was involved in a car accident. At the time I did not have any medical insurance, in September I received Full Coverage under Medicaid, and it was backdated to June 1st. I also filed Medicaid claims for the visits for the accidents, Medicaid paid the bills, one was for 1789.00 but they only paid .00 and did a write off on the rest of the amount. I had to hire a lawyer and file a personal injury, my case was won, and since Medicaid paid for my hospital bills my lawyer is now filing a pay back claim with Medicaid, will the lawyer end up paying the full amount owed or just the .00 that was actually paid?

Just be glad that medicaid paid the claim vs the insurance company, otherwise you would be paying back $1,789 vs $30.

good luck

Likely the writeoff amount will be paid back – it was owed!
