What should I expect to happen if I file a personal injury suit?

by admin on July 1, 2010

I was rear ended by some jerk who was riding my *** and slammed into the rear end of my car because he wasn’t watching what he was doing. Since the accident I have seen many primary doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons due to having several herniated discs in my back which is going to require surgery. So yes I believe I have sufficient medical evidence to support my claim. Also, up until this happened I was a hard working productive citizen who had a life. Now, I live in severe pain every day and have to rely on medication to make it through the day. I can not do my job, care for my family, or enjoy just the smallest things in life. So yes I whole heartedly believe I deserve to be compensated for having my life taken away.
What will the attorney ask for when settling a personal injury case? Lost time wages, pain and suffering, out of pocket medical expenses. Does anyone know what else can be asked for? What about long term care? I would like to find out as much as I can before seeking an attorney so I’ll know what to expect and inquire about. If my life after surgery will never be normal will this be considered as well? I also heard there is something called an incovienence fee ever heard of this? I’m in Virginia I guess all states have different laws. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, I’m sorry for your accident. All it takes is one jerk who’s in a big hurry to go nowhere to ruin lives! That being said, you are absolutely correct about each state being different in what they allow and don’t allow. Call your state Bar and talk with a professional. They will probably also be able to put you in touch with an attorney or many different attorneys if you don’t think you’ll be able to find one on your own. But, the Virginia State bar Association will have all the answers that you are looking for and will be the ones who can best answer them.
